Our
History.....
Laukhuff Stained
Glass got its start around 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Its roots were in the Binswanger Glass Company, a nationally
respected and well known glass company. Mickey Laukhuff,
an employee of Binswanger recognized a trend in stained
glass and broke off on her own to start Laukhuff
Stained Glass Studio. The business was later
sold to Binswanger executive vice president Jack Raby.
Unfortunately, before Mr. Raby could make his mark on
the business, he died suddenly leaving the business to
Barbara Raby, his wife.
Through the
years, Mrs. Raby has seen Laukhuff studio through thousands
of commercial and residential commissions, making the
studio the largest provider of stained glass in
the mid-south. Many church commissions were designed
by well known Memphis artists Jack Robinson
and Dorothy Sturm, and it retains many
of their original designs in its art library. Also, Laukhuff
has had a number of high profile clients such as Elvis
Presley, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
and Rhodes College to name a few.
Laukhuff is
proud of its heritage, and through Mrs. Raby’s leadership,
it has successfully met the needs of both large and small
churches by providing them with quality windows at a fair
price.
